Gay in Palm Springs

Palm Springs: From California’s Gayest Side and the Charm of Hollywood

Approximately 45,000 inhabitants and roughly half of them are gay. Palm Springs in California is arguably one of the most important gay destinations in the US. Why you should definitely visit the gay oasis in the US desert:

Gay Life
Huge, beautiful palm trees, noble villas with swimming pool, magnificent gardens, exclusive shopping centers and well-maintained golf courses: Palm Springs in California seems to be the gay paradise. 100 miles southeast of Los Angeles, just two hours by car, the classy resort is known for its dry and sunny climate especially in spring and autumn. That is also the best time for a trip to Palm Springs to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city everyday.

The city and its venues are absolutely gay friendly. A wide range of activities is waiting for gay tourists. The liberal way of life is impressive.
Two events should definitely be noticed. “The White Party” takes place every year in March. It is celebrated for several days. This party is one of the major gay events in North America. Here you can find top DJs from around the world, hot theme parties, pool parties and a lot of shows.
“Wet'n Hot” always takes place in July. In order to experience an erotic event you have to attend. And gay icons such as Nancy Sinatra and Barbra Streisand cavort here in Palm Springs of course.

Culture and Sights
Formerly Palm Springs was known for its Hollywood stars. 50 years ago, they recovered here. Among them: Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra.
The stars are gone - The charm of this time has remained. What remains is the mild climate and the relaxed atmosphere. To get to know interesting people or to have a flirt, you just have to go outside in the various bars and clubs. In case you are searching for adventure in the nature there are several day trips. With a trip to the Joshua Tree National Park, you can see the Joshua Tree, which only grows here. Breathtaking is the contrast between oasis and Desert Mountains with snow. How about a ride on the longest cableway in the world? It is 3,900 m long and leads to Mount San Jacinto. There you can take a walk in the snow and eat delicately. Highly recommended: three- to four-hour adventure tours by jeep, walks to idyllic canyon, a trip to the Indian Canyon north of the city with shady places to swim and beautiful hiking trails.

Pastime in Palm Springs is shopping time! Hundreds of stylish shops, elegant boutiques, art galleries and markets invite you to hours of shopping. A popular hotspot: South Palm Canyon Drive. This road will be partially closed every Thursday. You can go shopping on a fixed open-air market in the sunshine. By the way, Palm Springs has only an average of 28 rainy days per year. One more reason for an excellent gay holidays there.
